Will my finished canvas look like the image on my computer screen?

The image on your monitor most likely will not look like your print. It will be darker or lighter and warmer or cooler than the printed image, when your monitor is not calibrated.  The biggest differences in appearance is often because individuals have their monitors turned up to bright. If you are a professional artist, photographers or serious hobbyist, we recommend that you order our $29 Proof Package and follow the instructions below. This is a one time service that will ensure your satisfaction with all your future print orders with us. The $29 cost is refundable with your first printing order of $150.

What file formats do you accept?

The following image formats are supported: JPG, TIFF, PDF, PNG, GIF, BMP, PSD

What should my file resolution be saved at?

The resolution should be 240ppi to 300ppi, with the image file saved at your desired print size.

Our upload image software is set to allow available sizes based on 150ppi resolution, which is to small for a quality print. We have special software to up the resolution so images won't pixelate. Printing on canvas helps with small file size issues. As well, we will recommend some filters & effects that can get your image looking great at your desired size.

How large of a file do you accept ?

We allow a maximum of 100MB file size for image uploads. Some larger prints may require a file as large as 1GB. In this event use the "Get a Quote" upload tool.
Artists or photographers who have images that are this large typically have the choice of thoughtfully downsizing their files to something reasonable where no visible quality loss will occur on the print, and in doing so they can use upload to print, or they can continue doing things as they always have. 92 jpeg compression has been tested to show virtually no loss in image quality on a fine art prints by industry professionals.

What sizes of canvas do you offer?

We offer any size and any aspect ratio up to 44" x 109" rolled with no border. 1 1/2 deep Gallery wraps are available from 8"x8" to 38" x109".  2" deep gallery wraps are made up to 36" x 108". Museum stretch is available up to 40" x 108".  When you upload an image it will determine the aspect ratio and give you available sizes rounded off to the closest inch. It doesn't show fractions but we do print any size at any fraction. We won't crop your image without your permission. Some shrinking occurs so a large image may shrink up to 1/4". The online upload won't allow you to purchase over a 38"x 60". When you want a larger image simply message us your desired size and will send you a quote.

When I order a Gallery Wrap, are the size options given the finished image area or do they include the border?

The size you order is the image area size. Our software detects the aspect ratio and resolution of your image and will list the available sizes rounded off to the nearest inch. We add the border to your image with the exception of an image wrap. With image wraps, we enlarge the print 5" in height and 5" in width. When you order an image wrap, for example, a 16x24, you get a 16 x24 but will lose 2 1/2" all the way around the image area since the image area is stretched around the stretcher bars.

The calculator won't show you any fractions but we do print any size and any fraction. We do not crop your image unless you request us to. For example if you ordered an 8x10 and the actual size of your image is 8 1/4 x 10, we will print it at 8 1/4 x 10.

What options do you have for gallery wrap edge treatments?

You can pick your desired edge treatment or leave it up to our artists.

  • Mirrored is our most popular option. You don't lose any of the image area.
  • Mirrored & Stretched -This option must be requested in the message box. You don't lose any of the image area.
  • Solid Color - black, white and more colors. You don't lose any of the image area.
  • Image Wrap - You lose 2 1/2" all the way around of your image area because the image is wrapped around the stretcher bars.
  • Museum Stretch - Canvas is stapled to the outside edge of the stretcher bars. This is recommended for when your planning to have your canvas art framed in a traditional frame. When being framed in a floater frame select from the first three options since the edge shows in the floater frames.
  • Gatorboard Mount - This is a more economical mounting choice than Museum stretch for when your having your canvas art framed. It is also less vulnerable to punctures and denting since the canvas is mounted on a solid warp resistant board.

How long will the canvas last?

Your canvas art can last up to 200 years. We use Epson Ultrachrome HDR archival pigmented inks with outstanding lightfastness on a heavy archival poly/cotton blend canvas. Our luster finish UV-print guard provides addition protection from the harmful UV light, that causes fading and is scratch resistant. Canvases are only intended for indoor use, and will resist fading if kept out of direct sunlight.

How do I clean my canvas and care for it?

The canvases all have a UV-Print Guard that resist most scratches, smudges, fingerprints, etc. You can dust the canvas with a soft dry cloth or for a deeper cleaning use a soft damp cloth. Keep a light touch so as not to over stretch it, that could cause sagging. Do not lean the canvas into anything or set stuff on it, which could cause a dent, tear or sagging. If the canvas gets nicked it can be touched up with felt–tip markers or paint.

What is the best way to hang a canvas?

  • Smaller canvases have a saw-tooth hanger installed in the center of the back of the stretcher bars or frame.  A flat head nail is provided that you place into the wall.
  • Larger canvases have a braided stainless steel plastic coated wire attached to D-ring hangers screwed to each side of the stretcher bar or frame. Two courtesy hangers provided to nail into the wall that the wire hooks over.
  • Great big canvases have a strap/mirror hanger attached to each side of the stretcher bars or frame, with the appropriate weight courtesy hangers included.
